This was the weirdest shifter/rejected mate book that I’ve read.Dominic seriously rejected Tess just because she was small, so he assumed she was weak. We don’t ever see her recover or heal from anything. It jumps three years into the future right after the rejection.When they meet again, he’s rude, doesn’t want her, keeps her locked up, he’s honestly rather unstable.Then the shift in behavior from Alpha d*ck only after he’s been summoned by the Luna Sovereign is ridiculous. Not to mention, his inner monologue is seriously so back and forth, I’m starting to wonder if he’s got some kind of personality disorder. Oh, and of course he completely changed his mind and desperately wants the mate he so callously rejected once he finds out how powerful she really is.As for Tess, I couldn’t be more disappointed. She talks a big game, but melts into Dominic any time he initiates any intimate act, does what he says, and is pretty much a doormat. He never did anything to redeem himself or prove himself. She just jumped right in with him. Said one thing in her stupid inner monologue, but did the opposite. She’s weak. The jump from second rejection to suddenly marking and mating was out of nowhere.This book was just so weird.As a shifter, you can heal a broken limp in minutes, some have magical powers, but yet, you can get cancer and die?Also, who just keep a lock on the outside of their bedroom door?Only the males mark the females? It doesn’t ever explain that, but Tess never marks Dominic back.For such a long and drawn out book, it didn’t actually cover much of anything. It was a rather disappointing read. Wow! I loved every second of True North. This book had my attention from the very first page and it was a full ride full of more than I could ever expect. This is a shifter supernatural/fantasy/paranormal book full of angst, romance, mystery, action, and so much more! This book starts out with meeting Tess and her life in her pack before she turns of age to shift for the first time. Once she shifts though she meets Dominic, her mate, who rejects her. She runs and makes a life in a new pack with her sister where she’s content. There’s still some questions she has unanswered like what is it about her that gets her into certain situations, where does her family come from, and is she really happy? All of a sudden there’s an attack and she’s left fleeing again but for different reasons. She ends up in a pack she wasn’t trying to go anywhere near, Dominic is all of a sudden everywhere. Tess shouldn’t be underestimated though and from there Tess doesn’t take anything. she gives as good as she gets, she’s sassy smart and just wants to belong somewhere but isn’t sure where that is. She wants to know why she’s still feeling anything towards Dominic if he rejected her? Dominic is domineering and quite frankly a jerk but he wants to know why can’t he stop thinking about Tess too? Even though Dominic can be a jerk, I couldn’t help but loving him and how much he cares in general for his responsibilities and the people close to him. Fate and second chances come knocking and Tess and Dominic have no choice but to listen. They are in for a ride with all of the weird things that keep happening and the feelings that are forming. I can’t wait for the second book in this series. Tess and Dominic have their story finished for now while they won their battles but a war is coming and I can’t wait to see where this series goes and with who. I definitely recommend reading this book!
